luau

A local development that features a retirement community sponsored a luau for the public. Wasn't really all that, but we stuck our heads in, got lei-d, and stuck around for a spell. They had some food, some music, and some dancers. Beautiful place, Sun City Anthem in Florence (not to be confused with the town of Anthem, north of Phoenix).

flat-tailed horned lizard

Just walked the dog and ran across a rather large specimen of the flat-tailed horned lizard in a tiny little park two blocks from my house. Freaked Cosmo right out.

I, of course, was brave, even nonchalant, in the face of this dangerous wild animal.

Butter Battle

Dawn's school (or at least the 2nd grade) is doing stuff to commemorate Dr. Seuss' birthday. So yesterday we made a bulletin board based on Seuss' Butter Battle Book, which is, surprisingly, about an escalation of arms, ala cold war.

Wild, wacky stuff. You can always count on Seuss!

cosmo's bad hair day

So I made a big mistake. The neighbor offered to groom Cosmo and I allowed her to trim his coat way too short. Now he looks like a giant vienna sausage with a dog's head. (I'm so sorry, Cosmo! It'll grow back....... I hope.....)

joe's real bbq / birthday

Dawn tells me I have to post more to this blog because some people actually read it. I'm skeptical, but here's a little something, anyway. Friday proved a little awkward for the celebrating of Dawn's birthday what with me having a small photo job. She had a drink with c0-workers after work then everybody was too pooped to party!

So.... we did stuff on Saturday, instead! Went out for a fancy coffee, hit the library, and meandered joyfully to Joe's Real BBQ in Gilbert, which was always the plan for the birthday. Here are a few shots I got at/around the place. I wanted a shot of her face covered in bbq sauce, but my hands were too messy to pick up the camera and she's far too tidy an eater!

And a Bazooka Joe bubble gum (complete with comic) to set us on our way after linner/dunch.
