threw some writing at Amazon to see if it would stick

I made a sci-fi novel and two short stories (both horror/speculative) available on Amazon for Kindle. If you don't have a Kindle you can get the free "Kindle for PC" (although I would find it pretty annoying to read something very long at a computer -- but that's me).

My space opera of sorts, "Eclipsing Mars" can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/Eclipsing-Mars-ebook/dp/B004GEB258/ref=sr_1_27?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1292522761&sr=1-27 for $3.99. Phillip Stellini (aka: Fellini) is an extreme sports cinematographer. He is tapped to be a civilian crewmember of the first (and commercial) mission to Mars. What begins as merely epic, soon becomes a battle to save lives, onboard as well as back on Mother Earth.

In the world of voodoo, the caution "be careful what you wish for as you just might get it" couldn't be truer in my short story "Insecticide" that can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/Insecticide-ebook/dp/B004GEB78A/ref=sr_1_29?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1292522761&sr=1-29 for only $2.99.

And.... If destiny exists, can a clever fellow thwart it, to save his family?? Find out in "Slow Pan, Fast Zoom", my short story about fate here: http://www.amazon.com/Slow-Pan-Fast-Zoom-ebook/dp/B004GEB758/ref=sr_1_28?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1292522761&sr=1-28 also for $2.99.

Enjoy!

Nick and Lorna's 50th

Yesterday was the celebration for Nick and Lorna's 50th wedding anniversary (I believe today is the actual anniversary). We all enjoyed a showing of "Forever Plaid: Plaid Tidings" at the Gem Theatre. It was a terrific, silly, fun show. Great way to shift into the holidays.

Then dinner next door and gifts and well-wishes. It was a very nice time. Congratulations to Nick and Lorna and thank you to Marie, Lila, Odette and
everyone else who made it such a nice party.

Here's a pic of the happy couple:

lots of shooting, Mad Men, etc.

A Dawner, Ronnie and Cosmo (recent new nickname Cosgrove)... update.

Dawn has a head-cold, poor thing. Get better soon, Pook!

We've been doing a lot of shooting lately, some families, some kids, a WID event, some landscapes, even a cool top-secret job, that is, you know, all secret and stuff, so I can't tell you. But I'll throw you a bone -- it involved light and shadow, things and stuff.

But no weddings! We need to find some of them thar engaged gals to meet with and show-off to!

What else....??? Oh, lots and lots of leaves! On the ground, in the gutters, and in the air!

We're giving a seminar tomorrow night at the Caribou Coffee at Woodward and Normandy about What You Should Know Before You Hire a Wedding Photographer. So there's that.

We've become hooked on Mad Men. We're halfway through season two right now. Been getting them at the Southfield Library. Ever been there? It's terrific.

Cosmo is good -- he loves to chase them squirrels!

That's about it! More another time!

gasoline alley

Yesterday, I was putting gas in the ol' car and the aut0-shutoff thingy neither auto-ed, nor shutty-offy-ed. Much gas splooshed down the side of the car and onto the ground. Boo. And also hiss.

almost a skunk adventure

Last night's dogwalk: Cosmo and I decided to be adventurous and, instead of circling the park like vultures, headed off toward Coolidge. We ended up by Our Lady of Fatima. I spied a cut-through, a courtyard of sorts and we headed through. Cosmo became very alert. I flashed the flashlight on... a skunk! We ran and ran and laughed like a couple of schoolgirls who recently also saw a skunk and then ran and laughed about it.

Doing, doing, doing!

We sure have been doing stuff! Workin' piecemeal gigs, shooting everything in sight, zombie walk, photography, dog, and networking meetups, dance lessons, dinners, birthdays, friends, family, bridal show, backyard fires, yard work, libraries, reading, teaching, designing, facebookin', bloggin', playin' w. puppies, golf outing gig, School of Rock concerts!, Goober and the Peas, Eastern Market, AJ's, Clawson 4th of July, Armenia Fest, Riverwalk, Mexican Village, the lake, DIY Fair, the Octagon House, Romeo, and more, more, more.

That's how you make up for lost time after spending two years in the desert doing almost nothing good! Sheesh!

dancing fool

Arthur Murray, here we come. Oh, and Fred Astaire...? Eat your heart out.

"I ain't got no natural rhythm,
That's why I sing this song,
One of my legs is shorter than the other,
And both of my feet are too long...

I'm a dancing fool, uh huh, uh huh...." -- Dancin' Fool by Frank Zappa

weekend

Well, Labor Day weekend has come and gone. We successfully avoided Royal Oak (although WAR might have been pretty cool). Heath came by on Saturday to work on the ol' book cover. Stepped out for a coffee with Dawn's mom on Monday and the Jones' had a very nice bbq in the evening.

What is in store for us this week!?!?!

hey! let's put on a class!

Yep, that's right. I'll be teaching a class in Oak Park this fall and winter. Oct. 6 & 13 and then again January 12 and 19.

Full Oak Park Recreation brochure with details can be found here: http://www.oakpark-mi.com/recreation/files/2010fw_family_fun_guide.pdf

Also, please contact me if you know of other communities or situations that might welcome my class. I love talking photography!

updatin'

Hello all~

Haven't been posting much to blogs lately. Most because of Facebook, but even there, going much lighter lately. This is because we've been a bit busy, which is a good thing. Still some things about settling in and seeing people. Lots of invitations to dinner. Thanks, everybody!

Dawn's been helping Mary Thumm over at Whiskers and Wags a bit, as well as Lila. I've had a couple opportunities to shoot or assist at weddings and we're both doing a golf event tomorrow. Just a little something/something, but already waaaay better than the desert.

Cosmo's been busy, too, with walks in the park and visits. Yesterday he played with a neighborhood boy for a very long time.

So thanks to all for all the good wishes and please keep us in mind for any photography needs. We love to shoot -- and it shows (can I bastardize a slogan like that?).....

Later!
